After 3 kids and being in my mid thirties I was looking to get my body back to my old professional dancing days. Joey started training me and doing my macros. We worked really hard but after few months I was feeling awesome and loving my body transformation. I was able to compete in a bikini competition and placed 4th. This has been a life changer for me. If I can do it! You can do it! It does take work and preserving but you are worth it and deserve it.

Guire got his first HS freshman action today at a preseason tournament in Tullahoma, went 3-0 in his 4man scramble. Your lifting program did wonders for his body over the summer. All that work is paying off for him.
He has beaten every 106lb wrestler on the HS team and wrestles the 2 year varsity 106 senior next week in a "call out wrestle off" for the varsity position. I don't think he will beat him but hangs pretty good in practice with him. A freshman calling out the senior 106 varsity teammate just shows where his confidence is and where his expectations are.
Thank you for giving him his foundation. You started the ball rolling for him.
He pinned a kid today in a cradle with a Turk started by a double leg takedown shot. He sat down by me in the stands after the match and the first thing he said was "coach Joey would be proud of that pin"! lol
After the season I would like for him to start coming to see you again once a week when you have open slots and our schedules work. The power lifting / explosion drills. I like for you to see him lift different cores stations so you can keep his technique as needed. He still has his wrestling goals on the same board at home that we got when you start working with him and made him list his goals. The goal on top has changed several times over the last 2 years as he achieved them - top goal on the list now is a HS state champ title. Funny how the top goal when he started was win 1 AAU match, now look at it. Guess dreaming big can be a good thing.
Joey- I trained with you for like a month or two when your gym was just a transformed garage (you had barely started classes yet etc) like ten years ago.
You taught me the fundamentals of kettle bell workouts as well as trx and I want to tell you just last week (most recent time of many), a trainer at my gym asked me who taught me cause he thought my swings were 'great- really good form'.
I told em the same thing I've told the other people who've asked me for kettle bell pointers over the years -
"see- there was this wrestling guy in Nashville years ago who showed me the solid basics so you really need to train with someone like him, Comrade!! ;)
So I thought of you again and our brief time together and Just wanted to say again years later- thank you:)
You remain the best personal trainer I've ever worked with and the one with the most solid understanding of kettle bell technique and form. I still do most of the excercises you showed me those years ago !!
I started training with Joey just to be active! I had no idea I would start power lifting and competing. Thanks to Joey, I've now won THREE powerlifting competitions and recently represented the USA in the Worlds.
I started at 18% body fat and in 15 weeks I dropped to 8%. 10% percent equalled 18lbs of fat! At the same time I increased my muscle. Utilizing the strength program and macro program from Joey, I managed to add 85lbs to my deadlift, and increase my bench press 15lbs, and improved my squat 15lbs. Macro dieting works! Joey's strength and conditioning program was easy to follow and I enjoyed the workouts every week.
After 6 months, I’m the same size I was in high school, but in better shape than I’ve ever been in my life. To date, I’ve lost close to 20 pounds and almost 20 inches overall. I have a big shopping trip planned because I literally don’t have a single pair of pants in my closet that aren’t too big!!
Over the past 4 months of training with Joey, Bryce has lost over 50 pounds and decreased his body fat by 16%. But most importantly, his confidence level has sky rocketed! He enjoys his time with Joey immensely and it really shows!

Joey’s patience and attention to details where phenomenal, he helped critique my form on the deadlift, squat, bench press and push jerk. As a result of this attention to detail, my deadlift improved by 40 lbs, my squat increased by 50 lbs and my push jerk increased by 50 lbs in an approximately six month period.
For the first time in my life I have found an exercise program that I truly enjoy and have stuck with. I am so much stronger, I’ve lost 2 sizes and I have so much more energy!

Being that I am one that is typically very self-conscious of my body, I wouldn’t have thought in a million years I would be one to hit the stage of a physique competition. But then…I was introduced to Joey Barbera! From that moment forward, my life and self-confidence has never been the same. I have always been “in shape” being a former track athlete and competitive cheerleader, but have been plagued with cellulite and weight plateau for many years. In 2014, I started with Joey’s macro and strength training plan and haven’t looked back since. Being over 8 hours away, we did everything remotely through phone calls and email. With the details he provided, it worked perfect. On his plan, I was able to reach my goal weight in about 8 weeks and rid my legs and butt of cellulite. My body literally went to a whole new level! Muscles started to pop and the inches just continued to waste away. I was amazed at the results and have never felt and looked better. In May of 2016, I decided I was going to go for it! I was now comfortable in my own skin and ready to challenge myself even further. So, I signed up for my first competition. Joey was super encouraging and told me what to do every step along the way. With his help, I won 3 trophies!! Joey and the Temple Fitness team are truly a blessing and I thank God for them.
